Who?

We, the staff of Requiem, are a collection of UO vets whom share one simple goal: to create the most entertaining Ultima Online role-playing shard ever made. We refer to ourselves as members of a non-for-profit organization known as Darkened Realm Studios.

What?

This is Requiem, a horror themed Ultima Online role-playing enforced shard. It is a free to play emulation of the MMO Ultima Online (http://www.uo.com), circa version 6.0.0.0, that uses the RunUO emulator (http://www.runuo.com). Requiem is highly customized to suit the purposes of the players and staff alike, and utilizes custom music, sounds, art, maps, and a completely re-engineered mechanical game experience. We are currently in our fourth “Act”, and have been in development for nearly five continuous years.

Where?

Requiem takes place in the world of Eden, a ravaged land that has gone through what many consider to be the End of Days. It is a mid-evil world that had collapsed during the apex of a great renaissance at the hands of a horrifying plague, bringing down most of the civilized world.

When?

The year is 1342. Players find themselves creating characters within the harsh and molested city of Tor, the former capital of the Venerated Republic, a kingdom recently broken by civil uprising and after effects of the great plague. It has been almost thirty years since the Torment originally surfaced within the lands of the Republic, tearing asunder civilization without mercy. Since then, those fortunate enough to find shelter in few remaining pockets of civilization have resigned to the fact that the apocalypse has come and gone, leaving in it's wake naught but misery and suffering.

Why?

We of the Studios wanted to create an awesome place for role-playing and personal character development that focused on a more mature and difficult game experience not found anywhere else. We consider ourselves veterans of the Ultima Online community, and we wanted to create a home for veterans of the player-ran circuit who have bored of the same old song and dance.

How do you join? Simply follow the below steps.

Step One: Realm Passport Registration

Step One is as easy as registering a new login with the Web Portal. Dubbed a “Realm Passport”, this login will give you full access to the portal and social networking, to the shard forums, and to the Requiem Galleria. Simply click the link above to register a Realm Passport.

Step Two: Primer Reading

For Step Two, we ask that all potential players read over a few primer guides we have written for the shard to help them get to know what we're all about, and what we expect in terms of role-playing. Also listed are shard rules, both IG and OOC.

Step Three: Client Installation

Our client installation is quick and painless, and simply requires you to download and install two components. Once you are familiar as to what we expect from you as a player, simply continue on to Step Three of the process to get your account set up and your character created!

Last Step: Application Story

The fourth and last step of our application process requires you to write an in-character response or “introduction story” for your character on our New Player Application board, on the Requiem forums. This part of the application process can be completed after you have already created a character in the game world. More details concerning this step can be referenced by reading the “Step Four: Story” page using the menu to the left of this guide.
