Part II

Part Two

Months have passed since the first forsaken day of the Everdark, a time in history that will forever be remembered as the darkest period in Republic’s lineage, both literally and figuratively. Countless days have came and went since any contact with the world outside of Tor has been made, and many grow to believe that the Republic has seen its last days. From the Everdark’s darkness, the constant utterances from the impenetrable shadows are a constant reminder to all citizens of the sprawling city of Tor that the end days have fast approached.

The first days of the Everdark’s falling had brought with them a swarm of creatures that could be described only as incarnations of hell itself. From the eastern coasts, clouds of locusts and macabre winged beasts moved in and over the city, preying upon the helpless and weak. For weeks did the endless slaughter continue. Yet as the days progressed, however, the horde of darkness had thinned, the bulk of its forces moving eastwardly into the darkness.

In most recent days of the Everdark, the city of Tor had seen a reprieve from the madness that the eternal night had originally wrought. Attacks at the hands of the horrors which claimed the darkness as their home had ceased. The mighty factions of the Republic; the Church, Consortium, Legion and Foundry, had managed against all odds in keeping the crumbling capital operational. Had it not been for the everlasting night that had enveloped the city, it could be said that things had been relatively safe. Even the Resolve, declared enemies of all Decusians, had staved their meddling for reasons unknown.

And now, the emboldened citizenry of Tor press on, slaughtering their enemies without remorse. Their latest victory, the Torian Cemetary, once a place of utter anarchy at the hands of the mysterious Aeternum cult. In the melee, the zealous warriors had even managed to slay an enemy that was once thought to be nigh immortal; a member of the Resolve, infamously known as “the Seventh”.

With their victories fresh in the back of their minds and on the tips of nearly every citizens’ tongue, the forsaken prisoners of the Republic capital of Tor look towards the future, and specifically, the lifting of the forsaken eternal darkness known simply as the Everdark…

…for if giants can be toppled and faith restored, making the sun rise once more could be but a simple task indeed.
